I’ve long been a big believer that you greatly benefit from occasionally stopping to take stock, check your internal compass, and make adjustments to your course. Keeping track of my goals and seeing where they’re leading me this year is going to be quite an adventure! Already, I’ve made the decision that I spend too much time mindlessly scrolling on social media and that I need to make changes there, especially if I want to live my life more mindfully on an everyday basis. It’s going to be a process – I’ve been on Facebook for 15 years (!) and stepping back from that is admittedly challenging. But I’m not demanding that everything happen at once – small steps will get you to your goals, I know that. So I’ll be stepping away over a period of several weeks, maybe even months.
That said, I expect to make some changes to Splendor – I’ve long used social media to post my painting progress and one of my goals this year was to paint 100 paintings that are more complicated than many of my sketches. I’ve made progress through consistent effort and I have been gifted some BEAUTIFUL, top-notch tools (oh, Kolinsky sable – swoon at that sharp, sharp point!) I also firmly believe that if I can learn to paint, it’s not beyond anyone who wants to learn to do so, and I hope my efforts encourage other people. So every month, I plan to make a post showcasing the paintings I’ve done that month. Everything I create this year will be for sale and they won’t be very expensive, since I’m working in postcard-size, which is 4″ x 6″. Look for the January batch next week. If you’re interested, contact me and I’ll add your favorite to the Redbubble shop so you can have them made into cards, phone cases, pillows, and so on.
Also, I expect to make short blog posts more often to make up for stepping back from Facebook.
To me, it’s all part of Blooming this year.
